GENERAL PRACTITIONER
The Opportunity
Our client is an exciting and newly established rapidly expanding healthcare organization located in Nairobi, Kenya. Their pioneering work spans multiple facets of population health management through the enablement of innovative patient-centric technology solutions. The members have easy access to low cost, high-quality healthcare services from the comfort of their homes/offices or when travelling using our virtual telehealth platforms and mobile application. They are at the forefront of the development of quality patient support through our disease management programs, hospital at home program and virtual clinics for our B2B, B2C and B2G clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Works independently in managing a wide scope of cases including complex medical problems
- Provide remote treatment when/if the condition could be managed in the house while following the client’s Kenya policies and procedures
- Manages common health problems, acute and chronic diseases
- Compiles patient history, formulates diagnosis, orders appropriate diagnostic tests, and prescribes appropriate treatment
- Handles inbound calls from patients directly or calls transferred from call centre agent/ nurse/patient advocate
- Perform periodic outbound calls to ensure that patients receive further care if required in a timely manner
- May offer in-home assessment to patients with identified barriers to appropriate healthcare facilities
- Remotely monitor enrolled patients through telemonitoring software
- Enrols patients in Chronic Care program and perform complete assessments for identifying patients who may benefit from this program
- Provides health promotion and preventive services including child health services, antenatal care, screening, and pre-marital counselling etc
- Educates clients, patients and families on their health and how to maintain and promote it
- Coordinates patient care with secondary level through appropriate referral to hospitals and maintains responsibility
- Maintains a high standard of documentation in electronic medical records
- Adopts teamwork approach in his/her practice
- Keeps up-to-date with evidence-based medical knowledge in the field of General Practice
- Participates in professional development programs
- Participates in quality improvement projects
- Reports to the Medical Director / Chief Medical Officer
- Perform any other job-related task given by the CEO

- Bilingual
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Basic Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from medical school acceptable to DHA
- Satisfactory completion of a one-year internship
- At least 3 years clinical experience post-graduation in General Practice
- Must have a valid DoH license to practice
Additional Skills and requirements (if required):
- Attend regular training
- Basic Life Support BLS
- ACLS
- Communication skills
- The job requires working all duty hours (48 hours per week) with shift duty
