Job Description
JUNIOR DEVELOPER FOR HYDROPOWER/SOLAR PROJECTS
The Kenyan Development team is looking for a Junior Developer working on Renewable Energy projects (Solar, Wind, Small Hydro, Storage and Hybrid projects in Kenya) with a focus on Small Hydropower projects and Solar projects.
The main objective of the position and Tasks Description (not limited):
Origination of project leads:
• Identify potential hydro/solar sites in Kenya fulfilling the requirements of the company: gradient, hydrology, irradiation, grid connection, technical, environmental and social constraints, etc.
Prefeasibility and feasibility study:
• Assess the energy generation potential, with the support of the Center of Expertise
• Realize sites visits and assess technical, environmental and social constraints
• Identify potential grid connection point and manage grid connection study
• Manage project Environmental and Social Impact Assessment studies
• Manage technical studies and surveys: topographical, basic design, Detailed design, geotechnical with the support of Center of Expertise
• Evaluate the project viability, with the support of the Center of Expertise
Land Securing:
• Conduct a land survey and identify land ownership on the project area
• Manage potential land valuation
• Draft land contracts, with the support of the Legal department
• Lead the negotiations with landowners
• Manage the legal due diligence on land ownership, with support of the Legal department or external consultant
• Lead the process of land agreements signing
Relationship with project stakeholders:
• Organize meetings with affected residents and organizations, local authorities, local representatives, to present the project and identify social and environmental constraints applying to the project
• Follow up during the project development phase with all relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous information about the project
• Follow up project’s application, license, permits, approvals required for the realization of the project
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have/ be:
Master degree related to the fields of Hydroelectricity, Renewable Energy, Environment or Sustainable Development;
