ROLE SUMMARY

The Solutions Engineer is a customer-facing technical role, responsible for both the technical scoping and design of the core infrastructure network and customer connectivity solutions, including extended WIFI. This role reports to the Infrastructure Manager, however close collaboration with Network Engineering is also required to ensure optimal solution design.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is a fixed Internet service provider specialized in bringing affordable connectivity and related services to remote areas, where we serve both leading corporate and residential customers, as well as hundreds of thousands of individuals via public WIFI hotspots.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Participate in expansion trips and conduct site visits to potential enterprise customers, analyse technical needs, requirements and state of client’s current infrastructure.

  2. Support the Infrastructure Manager to identify options for building a technical backbone and/or leveraging existing infrastructure (in areas where Mawingu is not yet present)

  3. Propose technical solutions to meet the customer's requirements (including Customer BOQs and installation estimates) and validate with the Technical team.

  4. Conduct RF modeling and compile BOQs for both core infrastructure and extended WIFI solutions.

  5. Assist the Sales team in answering requests for quotations/information, bids, proposals, solution descriptions and statements of work.

  6. Liaise with the Network Engineering team to ensure that the proposed design for both core infrastructure and customer solutions complements the core IP network.

  7. Handover the solution design (both for core infrastructure and customer solutions) to implementation engineering once customers have been signed.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Telecommunications or in a closely related field.

  • Extensive RF modeling capability and solution design experience

  • Experience in pre-sales engineering, preferably for telecoms systems and solutions

  • Strong understanding of telecoms networks and technologies.

  • Proven ability to understand customers’ business needs and translate these into technical requirements and solutions

  • Familiarity with cloud or network-based value-added services

  • Ability to create architectural diagrams
